OVER RELIANCE/TRUSTING IN OUR SELF DETERMINATION

This is a tricky post to write because I am aware that we all, at times, go through phases in our lives when we need answers and the tarot is well placed to help unravel difficult situations. However, it's important for all of us not to become over-reliant on an external or spiritual/divinatory source at the expense of our own self determination.
We always need to be as certain as we can of what or who we're asking for help from. This is especially the case when we may think we're communicating with spirit guides...but are we? Is it instead a darker part of ourselves, or is it something else that we're not in control of (especially if we are then led into situations which don't end well)? If our dependance becomes so reliant on guides or whatever that we can't decide much of importance on our own, then that is surely a big red flag.
Similarly, I was listening to Radio 4 yesterday which was exploring over-dependance on AI. The programme focused on two individuals who had seemingly entered into "relationships" with the AI and got sucked into believing it was all real (interestingly an expert said that AI developers have used as much language as possible to give AI, most of which comes from novels!).
Finally, as many of you will already know, I have a spirit guide myself but we only communicate during tarot readings (because that's how I prefer it to be). Even then, I only pass on what she's said if I feel that it's useful to my client. This means that I am the one in control of the reading, not my guide (although I have great respect for her). Sometimes I do ask for guidance in my private life, but even so I won't necessarily follow this if it feels wrong.
Our self determination and trust in our ability to make decisions is very precious, therefore, we must protect it at all costs. Tarot can be really helpful, but I always tell clients that it's up to them what they ultimately decide to do/take from the readings. The link below is useful for ensuring that we don't lose track of keeping safe and that we always question what we're actually calling in...
